XISU: The Incubator for Excellent Talents
In 2013, as approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, XISU began to confer doctor degrees in foreign languages and literatures. In 2014, after the panel evaluation of National Post-Doctoral Regulatory Commission (NPDRC), the decision was made by NPDRC and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security that XISU was authorized to establish post-doctoral research station in foreign languages and literatures, which is the only relevant station in northwestern China. Until then, XISU has formed up a complete talent training system.
At present, XISU has introduced 24 specialists from "100-Talent Programme" of Shaanxi Province, 8 of them work full time. In response to "XISU Scholar Plan", the University has welcomed more than 50 distinguished professors, chair professors, and experts, including Su Ge, Dean of China Institutes of International Studies and postdoctoral fellow at Harvard; Frans DeLaet, the secretary general of International Federation of Translators; Huang Youyi, standing Vice-Chairman of Translators Association of China; Li Zhengren, Director of Interpreting Secretary of the Conference Management Department of United Nations Office at Geneva, etc. In the past 5 years, 172 high-level domestic and international experts were introduced to XISU.

The group features "Sanqin Scholars" as its core members, and foreign language teachers as the primary teaching body to collaborate on "belt and road" language services and foreign languages and literatures at Center for European and American Literatures and Center for Linguistics in Foreign Languages and Applied Linguistics.
XISU has secured its strategic plan of fully utilizing currently recruited faculty, retaining vital talents, forming high-level scholars, and introducing highly demanded experts to establish a viable approach in competitive recruitment. Based on West China Center for Teacher Development, XISU integrates quality educational resources and pedagogically customizes training too meet individual teacher's particular need for career planning and research support.
XISU has also established a clearly-positioned system to train its faculty to be globally visionary, internationally educated, and cross-culturally diverse. All teachers from programs of Japanese, Korean, French, Russia, and German earned advanced degrees or went as visiting scholars from the countries where their respective target language is spoken. Comparatively, about 85% of the total teachers from other language programs have the same accomplishment. In the past 5 years, XSU has sent more than 300 teachers to study, visit or work abroad or in other regions of China. Currently, over 55% of total faculty were trained overseas, which reflects international characteristic in faculty quality, its constitution and criteria for teacher evaluation.
